No. To have the greatest possible impact on health-related issues, The Health Foundation of Greater Indianapolis provides grant funds and assistance only to nonprofit organizations whose programs meet its funding priorities.
We currently focus our funding in four areas - HIV/AIDS, school-based health clinics and childhood obesity.
We make grants to 501(c)(3) groups, organizations or agencies that provide health- related programs or services. Services must be provided within the metropolitan area of Marion County and the seven surrounding counties to be considered. Agencies must function without discrimination or segregation based on race, gender, age, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, disability, military or marital status in hiring, termination, assignment and promotion of staff, selection of board members or provisions of services.
Grants will not be made for:
- Sectarian religious purposes.
- The purchase of advertising or for tickets to events.
- The support of research.
- Payment of a financial deficit.
- Production and design of educational materials that are currently available for purchase.
- Endowment funding.
- Short- or long-term loans.
Occasionally, The Health Foundation of Greater Indianapolis will consider general health-related programs that demonstrate need.
The Health Foundation will consider multi-year programs, but only provides one year of funding at a time.
Our aim is to fund programs that can ultimately be self-sufficient, which is why The Health Foundation of Greater Indianapolis will only fund a program for a total of three years. Our program officers are trained to assist you in organizing your program and seeking other funding avenues to continue the program beyond the three-year funding window.
